Have you just set up your mounted TV and realized that even though it looks great floating on the wall, the mess of wires that leads to the console holding all of your other electronics are just killing the vibe? You don’t have to have them be visible!
Now, you must be thinking how you’d hide wires like that, or the other wires in the house, there just seem to be so many different types of wires that it seems a little impossible to hide them all! Well, there are lots of different ways to do it and in this post, we’ll be going over the top 5!
Use hooks
One of the best ways of hiding a mountain of wiring in your home is by using all of the furniture you have near the wires as a way to hide them using hooks. You can easily find command hooks online and since they’re self-adhesive, they’re an easy DIY too! Find all the “leggy” furniture you have, and run the cords behind them, adding hooks to hold them in place as you go! That way, all of your wirings will still be right there, and you won’t have to make massive changes in the way you use your appliances and devices, but you still won’t be able to see them from the front!
Use cord covers
When you’re working with wiring that has “gaps” and no furniture connecting the spaces for you to hide the wires behind, like a mounted TV, you’ll have to think differently. Here you have the option of hiding the wires using cord covers. The cords can fit right inside the covers and you just have to snap them closed! Although the cord covers will still be visible, it’s still a better look than messy wires. You can even paint the cord covers to match your walls and they’ll blend in a lot better!
Feed the wires behind the walls
If you really want nothing to be visible in the space between the TV and the console, you can have the wiring fed through the wall behind the TV too! This method isn’t as easy as just sticking some hooks on, you’re going to have to find two studs in the wall and make a cut and feed the wire through it, down to the switch. If this sounds like something you can’t tackle on your own, call a Handyman NYC, or a recommended handyman in your general area to come and install the hidden wiring professionally for you! This will ensure that your wires are hidden, and you don’t end up doing irreparable damage to your walls!
Use router covers
Wi-Fi is almost as important as electricity nowadays. It’s very hard to function without it! But with Wi-Fi, comes a very clunky router! Routers come with their own bunch of wires and it can be very difficult to hide them away, especially since most routers need to be placed right in the middle of the home for optimal signal strength! A great way to tackle this problem is by getting router covers! These come in different shapes and sizes and you can even get some that are basically hollowed out books for you to hide the router under! That way it’ll look like you just have a few books lying around when they’re actually just a clever way to hide the router and its wiring!
Hide them in the skirtings
No floor is complete without skirtings. These are present no matter which type of floors you have! You can get special skirting boards that match the skirting in your home and feed the wires through them. That way they’ll be running across the floor of your home without being visible at all!
